Benelux Neuromodulation Society Projects

BNS as a consortium

With this survey, we aim to explore the current use of prophylactic antibiotics in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in the different fields and stages of neuromodulation.

The data will be used to gain more insight into the current use of antibiotic prophylaxis and in a second stage to create guidelines for the BeNeLux by an expert committee.

STIMULUS research group (Maarten Moens & Lisa Goudman)

In this prospective, multicenter cohort study, the aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of differential target multiplexed spinal cord stimulation for the treatment of chronic back and leg pain. In total, 200 patients with chronic low back and leg pain due to Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type II will be included.

A multicenter randomized controlled trial will be conducted in patients with Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type II who are eligible for SCS. The primary scientific objective is to examine whether subthreshold Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS), compared to best medical treatment (BMT), provided to patients with Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type II results in a higher percentage of clinical holistic responders at 6 months.

A multicenter randomized controlled trial will be conducted to evaluate whether the ability to work in Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type II (PSPS-T2) patients after SCS implantation is different after a personalized biopsychosocial rehabilitation program specifically targeting return to work (RTW) compared with usual care.
